Once upon a time there was a little
girl who loved angels. She would spend hours drawing angels, ballerinas, princesses and fairies, always imagining
she was one too.
Daily she would whisper to God her prayers and questions
about life's mysteries, sharing the many musings of her heart. As the years passed, she became increasingly absorbed
in schoolwork, and the time spent drawing and dreaming faded away...but her love of angels, art and beauty remained.
Her explorations of the inner world eventually led her to become a writer and editor of inspirational literature; but
after many years, her health deteriorated, forcing her to take a sabbatical to rest and heal.
One day on a walk by a lake near her home, she saw a
large piece of pink chalk, left behind by a child who had drawn a hopscotch grid. For fun, she picked up the chalk and drew
a life-size angel on the pavement.
Days later, again walking that path, she came across the
outline of her pink angel, still there...but adorned and colored in by children who must have discovered her while playing.
To her delight, the angel was now accompanied by several smaller, haltingly-drawn angels in various stages of completion,
all with the same curly hair and flowing gown.
In that magical moment was born a desire to share her
love for angels with children. In the weeks that followed, she started experimenting with a set of children's watercolors
and began painting whimsical, childlike angels as gifts for the daughters of family and friends. She designed the
angels to resemble, in hair color and clothing, the little girls who would receive them...but also to embody a sense of sweetness
and peace. Some of the angels were meant to represent a specific virtue, such as harmony or grace.
Painting
the angels became a healing exercise, reconnecting her to an inner point of tranquility and to her own inner child.
She realized more deeply a simple key: that midst all of life's pain, the way to peace is to focus on peace and
beauty. The words of Philippians, "Think on these things...," became her North Star, pointing her back again and again to
the beauty of angels and the power of positive thought to heal.
It is her
prayer that through this website, her little angels will reach and bless others who might enjoy them. May
they inspire children (and the child in adult hearts, as well) to a closer walk with their guardian angels,
who are so lovingly near.
Never lose an
opportunity of seeing anything beautiful,
for beauty is God's handwriting.
